On April 22, 2013, a delegation from University of Ulster led by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Denise McAlister visited Institute of Disaster Prevention (IDP). During this visit, the delegation had an in-depth discussion with school leaders on the issue of cooperative school-running in Computer Science and Technology. Vice president Liu Chunping warmly welcomed the delegation in the VIP room on the fifth floor of school library. Head of the Department of Disaster Information Engineering, Feng Jilin and head of International Exchange and Cooperation, Jiang Jiyi also attended the meeting.
First, President Liu expressed warm welcome to the delegation. He pointed out that IDP had signed a cooperative school-running agreement with University of Ulster in Computer Science and Technology, and he hoped that both parties would deepen cooperation in the future. President Denise McAlister expressed great confidence in the cooperative program, and said that their visit here was to further communicate with students of IDP and encourage them to study in University of Ulster.
Then, delegation from University of Ulster had a face-to-face exchange with more than 30 students who intended to study abroad. President Denise McAlister and Professor Paul Hanna introduced the courses, accommodation, employment of graduates and application procedure of Ulster respectively, and the delegation patiently answered the questions raised by the students after the presentation.
The delegation also had a campus tour and visited the school library, school gym, earthquake simulation shaking table and the experiment center of the Department of Disaster Information Engineering.
This is the first visit for University of Ulster after the cooperative school-running agreement was signed on November 20th, 2012. According to the agreement, the two parties will carry out cooperation in the undergraduate program of “3+1” in Computer Science and Technology and postgraduate program in Computer Intelligence.
